House Committee to Hold Hearing on Bernstine Municipal Electric Fairness Bill
WHAT: The House Local Government Committee will hold a public hearing on House Bill 1405, legislation authored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) which would require borough electric providers to adopt more uniform and reasonable rate structures.

Presently, 36 boroughs across Pennsylvania force their residents to receive electricity through power lines managed by the borough, and are not given the option of purchasing electric from a provider of their choice.

WHO: Bernstine, House Local Government Committee Chairman Kate Harper (R-Montgomery) and other members of the committee. Testifiers include: Vance Oaks, president of Pennsylvania Municipal Electric Association and borough manager of Grove City Borough; Bob Thompson, borough manager of Ephrata Borough; Patrick Cicero, executive director of Pennsylvania Utility Law Project; and Beverly Annarumo, president of Ellwood City Hospital.

WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Majority Caucus Room, 140 Main Capitol Building
State Capitol Complex, Harrisburg
