Bernstine, Brown Announce Grant for Lawrence County Historical Society

December 12, 2025

LAWRENCE COUNTY - Reps. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) and Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) today announced the Lawrence County Historical Society has been awarded a $9,000 grant to support the preservation, care and maintenance of the county’s historically significant records and artifacts.

“The Lawrence County Historical Society is a vital guardian of our community’s past, and this grant helps ensure its irreplaceable records and artifacts remain protected,” said Bernstine. “I’m proud to support funding that preserves our shared history and keeps it accessible for future generations.”

“Our historical societies play an essential role in educating the public and strengthening our sense of place,” said Brown. “This investment will help the Lawrence County Historical Society continue its important work maintaining exhibits, records and programs that celebrate our county’s rich heritage.”

The funding will help offset essential operating expenses related to maintaining proper temperature and humidity levels in the society’s historic home/museum and office building. These environmental controls are critical for protecting archival materials and artifacts that document Lawrence County’s rich heritage.

The grant funding comes from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission through the Cultural and Historical Support Program, which provides general operating support to museums and official county historical societies.
