Bernstine to Host Free Shredding Event in Forward Township
October 10, 2025
HARRISBURG – To help residents protect themselves against identity theft and safely dispose of sensitive documents, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) will host a free shredding event on Saturday, Oct. 18. The event offers individuals and families a convenient opportunity to securely clean out old paperwork and guard their personal information.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Forward Township Municipal Building, 207 Ash Stop Road, Evans City.
“Safeguarding personal information is more important than ever, and shredding old documents is a simple but effective way to protect yourself from identity theft,” said Bernstine. “I’m glad to offer this free service to help residents securely dispose of sensitive materials.”
This event is intended for paper items containing personal information such as Social Security numbers, bank account details or medical records. Residents are asked not to bring items like phone books, magazines, junk mail, newspapers or cardboard. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed, but documents should be taken out of binders or notebooks.
“There’s no need to leave your private information vulnerable,” said Bernstine. “Taking steps like this can make all the difference in keeping your identity safe.”
No registration is necessary. For more information, residents may contact Bernstine’s office at 724-847-5291.
