HARRISBURG – Geneva College will receive $489,339 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund for pedestrian safety improvements in the city of Beaver Falls, said Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence).
The funding will be used to support the Geneva College South Campus corridor project, which seeks to improve the ability of residents, students and visitors to walk and bike between the college and downtown Beaver Falls.
“This project will go a long way in improving pedestrian safety for both the Geneva College community and residents and visitors of Beaver Falls,” said Bernstine. “I’m looking forward to seeing the completed results of this project, and I’m hopeful it will also encourage further economic development in our district for the future.”
The following improvements are included in project plans: new curbs along State Route 18, construction of 1,297 feet of new sidewalks, widening of existing sidewalks, as well as new lighting, fencing and landscaping.
The project is located adjacent to the Beaver County Transit bus line and connects to the Beaver River Trail.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and provide safe, reliable transportation for Pennsylvania residents.
