Bernstine to Host Shredding Event Saturday, Oct. 26
HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) will be hosting a free shredding event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Forward Township Municipal Building to give residents of the 8th Legislative District a chance to safeguard themselves against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.
The event will be held at 207 Ash Stop Road, Evans City.
“My shredding event offers residents an easy and effective way to protect themselves from identity theft,” said Bernstine. “Safely disposing of documents that contain sensitive information is one of the most important steps in preventing fraud and keeping personal information secure.”
The event is for items that feature private details such as bank account or Social Security numbers. Residents are asked not to bring old phone books, magazines, cards, letters, folders, newspapers, junk mail, etc., as these items can be recycled. There is no need to remove staples or paper clips, but documents should be taken out of binders and notebooks.
“This is part of our ongoing effort to help constituents safeguard their personal information. Shredding documents that contain private details is a simple way to avoid identity theft and keep your financial data safe,” said Bernstine.
No advance registration is required to participate in the event. For more information, residents should call Bernstine’s offices at 724-847-5291 or 724-752-2120.
